Borders bowlers walking on Ayr

Sunshine and showers were the order of the day for the Bowls Scotland District Finals held at Jedburgh Bowling Club on Sunday.

For the most however it stayed fair and the many supporters who went along to watch were treated to some red hot action on the green as players from east and west of the Borders battled it out for a place in the prestigious Bowls Scotland national Championships on Ayr’s Northfield Greens from Tuesday, July 28 – Sunday, August 2.

Borders qualifiers for Ayr are:

Ladies Senior Fours: June Robertson, Joan Kyle, Betty Gibson, Irene Bennett (Wilton BC).

Gents Senior Singles: Rob Fulton (Gala BC).

Gents Senior Fours: Alister Taylor, Michael Notman, Ricky Paterson, Bruce Miller (Wilton BC).

Mixed Pairs: Leanne Carruthers, Stuart Bebbington (Ayton).

Ladies Senior Singles: Alison Clarkson (Hawick BC).

Ladies Fours: Irene Wilson, Mary Riddell, Pat Brady, Joyce Dickey (Hawick BC).

Gents Fours: John Crowe, Drew Scott, Alan Bennie, Campbell McNeil (Eyemouth BC).

Ladies Pairs: Sonia Martin, Margaret Riley (Coldstream BC).

Gents Pairs: Jimmy Renwick, Ronnie McCulloch (Ancrum BC).

Ladies Singles: Lauren Upton (Gala Waverley BC).

Gents Singles: Stuart Bebbington (Ayton BC).

Gents Junior Singles: Jamie Mitchell (Chirnside BC).

Gents Triples: Mark Redpath, Arthur Cossar, Neil Kellett (Gordon BC).

Ladies Triples: Gloria Smith; Ibby Currie, Hazel Dodds (St Ronans BC).
