FOLLOWING an earlier suggestion of a joint ordering system for oil deliveries, a member of the public has offered to pass on details of a website for further enquiries.

Area Forum meeting

A REQUEST has been made for windfarms to be included on the March agenda of Berwickshire Area Forum.

Core path

IT is advised not to use the path leading down from Paxton to the Whiteadder River at present. A report has been logged with the access ranger.

Community Resilience

HUTTON and Paxton villages have been accepted into Scottish Borders’ Community Resilience plan. A First Aid training course was being organised for some time in February.

Youth membership

THE community council welcomed four young people from Hutton and Paxton who attended the meeting with Ali Birkett . They were invited to consider future projects to bring back to the community council.

Paxton contact

ALI Birkett, Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator for Paxton, advised that his contact details are on the community notice board to allow people to report particular issues.

Pedestrian barrier

THE damaged pedestrian barrier at the exit of Brickholes Lane leading to the B6460, Paxton, has been removed and will be re-erected when weather conditions allow.

Small Grants fund

THE Orchard/Square access at Paxton is to receive funding from Scottish Borders Council’s Small Grants fund.


FISHWICK housing development: Concern was expressed that the community council’s comments that took account of residents’ reservations about the proposed tree planting plan, appeared not to have been followed through to SBC councillors.

Local bus services

SBC’S passenger transport manager has been contacted about problems reaching Berwick for medical services, transport links and shopping and an encouraging response has been received.


POTHOLES had been reported in Hutton between the cemetery and towards Hutton Barns, and the cemetery fence is falling over again and rabbits are getting in.


HUTTON and Paxton Community Council is next due to meet tonight, Thursday, February 28.
