Award success for Wired

Members of the Scottish Borders Wired radio show team were named runners up in the Young Scot Community Award category at a glittering Young Scots Awards ceremony held in Glasgow on April 26.

The team, which presents a weekly show on Radio Borders, was shortlisted for producing a show that gives young people the opportunity to get involved, have their say and share the achievements of young people within the local community.

The Wired team is supported by staff from Scottish Borders Council’s (SBC) Community Learning and Development department.

Alan Wise from Wired said the evening was “inspirational and amazing”.

Liam Turnbull, presenter of Wired said: “It was amazing to meet so many inspiring people and it was definitely a highlight of my year.”

Wired team member Dylan Howel added: “This was an excellent showcase of talented young people and a real eye-opener to what young people are doing in their community.”

The annual Young Scot Awards, which were set up in 2006, recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of young people living in Scotland.

Fourteen Young Scot awards were given out in total from thirteen different categories.
