Celebrity chef cooks up a storm on visit to Borders hospital

The catering department at NHS Borders welcomed celebrity chef Tony Singh to Borders General Hospital.

Renowned for his lively personality and skill in designing quirky and delicious dishes, Tony is also a firm favourite on television having made regular appearances on shows such as The Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen and Ready Steady Cook.

Tony, who is a family friend of an NHS Borders staff member, offered to work with the catering team to cook a selection of dishes including chicken and spinach masala and vegetable dhal curry.

Muriel Thomson, catering manager, said: “We were delighted to welcome Tony to the catering department at Borders General Hospital – there was a real buzz amongst the team.

“It was a privilege for our staff to work alongside him for the day and collaboratively produce a special themed menu which was on sale for our NHS Borders colleagues.”

Tony added: “I loved my time in the kitchen with the catering team at the Borders General Hospital.

“Any way in which I can help all of the front line heroes and the heroes behind the scenes in the NHS I will.”
