Angela is appointed new Borders College prinicipal

Borders College has announced the appointment of a new principal, Angela Cox, currently deputy principal at the City of Liverpool College.

She takes over the position from Liz McIntryre who is moving on to take up the role of principal of North East Scotland College.

Borders College is the largest provider of post-compulsory education in the Scottish Borders with 1,270 full-time learners and 3,950 part-time learners and the role of principal brings with it a salary of up to £103,623 a year.

Ms Cox was born and educated in Scotland and has 20 years experience in the further education sector. Her association with further education began as a student at Central College of Commerce in Glasgow, before progressing to study for a BA (Hons) and an MBA. After working in the USA and UK in the services industry sector she began as a part time lecturer in Reading before progressing into several middle and senior leader positions at Bournemouth & Poole College.

Chair of the board of the college, Tony Jakimciw is delighted at the appointment which he said “followed a challenging and robust selection process which attracted over 40 applicants”.

“We are confident that Angela will take us forward to build upon the very strong legacy left to the College by Liz McIntyre,” added Mr Jakimciw.

Ms Cox said: “I’m excited by the tremendous opportunity the post brings.

“Borders College has a reputation as one of the most successful in Scotland and I look forward to working with students, staff, employers, stakeholders and partners to meet their ambitions and to successfully meet the needs of the Borders.”
