SHE’s one of the biggest names in UK music who is now gaining even more fans thanks to her role on ‘The Voice’ and we can reveal that Jessie J is heading to Northumberland for what looks set to be the music event of the summer.
The pop phenomenon will descend on Alnwick Castle on Saturday, July 21 for the gig which is sure to be a must-see for music lovers of all ages.
Jessie first came to prominence with the release of her debut single ‘Do It Like a Dude’ which peaked at number two in the UK early last year.
She then went one better with her second single ‘Price Tag’ which reached number one and went on to become one of 2011’s biggest selling singles.
The song also reached number one in France, Ireland and New Zealand and also charted high on America’s Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Jessie’s debut album ‘Who You Are’ reached number two in the chart and spawned further hits ‘Nobody’s Perfect’, ‘Who’s Laughing Now’ and ‘Who You Are’ which were all massive chart and airplay hits.
This year started off just like the last with another number one for the pop powerhouse when ‘Domino’ reached the top spot here in the UK and peaked at number six in America.
You just have to look at this week’s chart to see just how popular Jessie J is.
She is currently sitting at number five with ‘Laserlight’, her colloboration with superstar DJ David Guetta.
The song has earned her a place in pop history as the first female UK artist to have six top 10 singles from the same album. ‘Who You Are’ itself is still a big seller, currently sitting pretty at number five in the album charts after selling over a million copies in the Uk alone.
With record sales that speak for themselves, a clutch of MOBO Awards and a Critics Choice BRIT Award to boot, Jessie J has the perfect credentials to be a coach on ‘The Voice UK’ and has so far proved to be a big hit with TV viewers.
The show has been a massive hit for the BBC, attracting more than 10 million viewers in the last few weeks and Jessie is now preparing her final five acts for the first round of live shows which get going this weekend.
Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland has played host to the likes of Jools Holland and Status Quo in the past few years and will provide a magnificent backdrop for the kind of big show Jessie J has become known for.
