You won’t need to pick up your knitting needles to get involved with this year’s St Abbs Wool Festival taking place this Saturday,.

The event, running from 10am-5pm, is a must for wool enthusiasts and there is a new venue in the programme for 2013.

St. Abbs Visitor Centre will have a Fishermen’s Knitted Gansey Exhibition (free entry to all)

There will be a collection of half sized ganseys showing the many different patterns that have been passed down through generations of fisherfolk, history and pattern books, old photos and a gansey knitting demonstration.

If you have any ganseys, knowledge, artefacts or anecdotes take them along and share them.

Local spinners, dyers, weavers, felters, knitters and crocheters are offering fibres, yarns, finished garments and all the paraphernalia that belongs to wool crafting.

Included in the small admission charge of £2 to the market (under sixteens free) is entry in a free raffle .
