Anna Leonowens (Lynn Manderson) has been ‘Getting to know you’ with her young charges in Eyemouth Variety’s rehearsals for their production of ‘The King and I’. The show tells the story of an English widow, (Anna) who arrives in Bangkok with her young son, having been summoned by the King of Siam. She is to serve as
tutor to his wives and many children, and to help him address his barbaric image in the west. He is reluctant, however, to change his ways.

Though cultural differences cause problems at first, Anna and the King grow to understand and respect one another, and a unique love story begins to unfold.

And playing no small part in bringing the two together are the King of Siam’s charming children.

Pictured with Lynn are Colbie-Kate, Paige, Halle, Mia, Alistair, Stewart, Daniel, Grace, Alisha, Holly, Gemma and Skye (and missing from the picture Cody, Demi, Leah and Zack), who are all working very hard to perfect their roles as the children of The King (played by Craig Rosie).

Featuring many well known songs such as ‘Getting to know you’, ‘Shall we dance?’, ‘Hello Young Lovers’ and ‘We kiss in the shadow’, the show will take place on Thursday, March 17, until Saturday, March 19, at 7pm in Eyemouth (Old) High School Hall.

Tickets went on sale on Monday and are available at Occasions Flower Shop in Eyemouth.
