Former Berwick Rugby Club player Scott Wilson struck gold at the weekend when he helped England win the Junior World Cup.

Wilson, who comes from Eyemouth, was a member of the England team who beat Wales 23-15 to lift the title in Vannes, France on Sunday afternoon.

England trailed 15-3 at half-time, but they hit back and turned things around dramatically in the second half.

They had reached the final by beating four-times winners of the competition, New Zealand, 33-21, in the semi-finals, whilst Wales had edged out South Africa 18-17.

Wilson plays for Newcastle Falcons and has only recently signed a two year contract extension with the Kingston Park outfit.

The tight head prop is a former captain of Sedbergh School and played for Berwick as well as representing Scotland Schools at athletics.

He is a former England U16 and U17 player and first signed for the Falcons, as part of their Academy team, in 2011
