Two gold medals for swimmer Euan

THREE members of Duns ASC travelled to Glenrothes recently to compete in the East District Open Championships.

Euan Johnston, 17, was in super form and won gold and the East District Trophy in the men's 800 free, gold in the men's 1500 free, claiming east district titles in both. He also swam in the men's 200 IM and was sixth. All three swims were pbs.

Not to be out done Rebekah Wilson, 17, and Kirsty Patterson, also 17, won gold and east district titles in the women's 200 breast in a nail biting finish. Both were timed at 2.44.00, the only dead heat of the weekend, rendering coach Joyce Waddell stunned. Rebekah also won silver in the 100 breast and 200 fly, bronze in the 200 IM and fourth in the 100 fly, claiming three pbs. Kirsty won silver in the 200 IM and 100 fly, bronze in the 100 breast and 200 fly, sixth in the 100 fly and swam the 100 free, claiming two pbs.

Four swimmers also competed in the City of Sunderland meet, Charlie Lochhead, 11, having a superb meet, winning gold in the 50 free and bronze in the 100 back, fourth in the 50 fly, three pbs on his first time in a 50 metre pool. Harry Crombie, 13, was seventh in the 100 breast, swam the 200 free, 400 free and 100 free. Kirsty Patterson, 17, was sixth in the 50 fly and 100 breast, seventh in the 50 free, 200 breast and 100 fly and swam the 200 IM. Euan Johnston, 17, was fifth in the 400 free and swam in the 200 free and 100 free, swimming two pbs. Charlie, continuing his good form, was also in action recently in the Midlothian minnows where he won a bronze in the fly, fourth in the free and fifth in the back - three pbs.

Three members of Duns ASC competed in the Galashiels triathlon, Danny Milton winning gold in the 11/12 boys, sister Zara was fifth in the 13/14, and Sophie Thomson was seventh in the 11/12. Thanks to coach Joyce Waddell and all the swimmers.
