Former Berwick rugby player Scott Wilson has been called up to the England Saxons squad to play Ireland Wolfhounds this Saturday in Gloucester.
The Saxons are England’s second team so he find’s himself one step away from the Six Nations Championship.
Eyemouth-born Wilson qualifies for England via his mother and started his career as an 8 year old at Berwick Rugby club.
Currently playing for Newcastle Falcons he worked his way through the Under 16s,18s and Colts sides at the club and has played in the England Under 18 and under 20s squad wining the World Cup in France last year.
“In fact Scott’s selection is a great honour for both the club and the town. “ said Club Press Officer Steve Newman “ as strictly speaking he has another year to go in his present squad but has been promoted early. The club owes a great debt to those coaches and volunteers who turn out to help the young players in the club and town and Scott’s success is an example to all the youngsters of what can be achieved. “
