Patrick Anderson from Gavinton received a pleasant surprise while he was at work on Saturday morning - a call-up to the Scotland Under 18 rugby squad!
The former Duns player, who now plays with Melrose Wasps, had gone to work at Harbro in Duns where he has a Saturday morning job when he received a phone call to say could he go to Peffermill straight away and into the Scottish U18 training camp over the weekend.
The young centre/wing was down to play for Melrose Wasps on Saturday against Hawick Wanderers in the semi-final of The Border Cup but following the phone call he hot-footed it up to Edinburgh.
The Scotland Under 18s flew to Wales on Wednesday for 10 days. Wales are hosting the inaugural U18 International Series this Easter, with England, Ireland, Scotland and Italy the other participating teams.
The Scots face hosts Wales in their opening match on Good Friday, March 25 (kick-off 2.30pm) at St Helens, Swansea, then on Tuesday, March 29, they will play Ireland at the Caerphilly Centre of Sporting Excellence, Ystrad Mynach (kick-off 5.15pm) and on Saturday, April 2, they will play England at Ystrad Mynach (kick-off 1.20pm).
Patrick is grateful for the grant from Club Sport Berwickshire towards travelling to Borders and East Lothian training (which probably helped him get selected as the U18 team won the Scottish District Championships).
