Berwick Bandits boss Scott Courtney has blasted former owner Peter Waite over his recent criticism of the Shielfield outfit.
Ex-Berwick promoter Waite, who now lives in Poland, was interviewed on video for the club’s YouTube channel, and angered fans and officials after the Bandits’ 50-40 defeat to Peterborough with his comments on the lack of atmosphere, quality of racing and rider/supporter interaction.
And now Courtney has hit back, saying: “The criticisms thrown at the atmosphere, the team spirit and the environment in general are inaccurate.
“The crowds are up, we’ve bravely battled all season for a top-six position (which now looks out of reach), new sponsors have been satisfied with their advertising packages, new fans have come along one by one and the feedback I get from them is great.
“If there is an accusation of a lack of leadership I have to beg to differ – week in, week out this gets all I have with what resources I have!
“Kev Doolan is a top-notch captain and all seven of our riders have overcome some huge hurdles this season.
“Peter is entitled to his opinions – they make the world go round – but our opinions are quite different on certain areas of what’s going on with the club.”
