Matty Wethers enjoyed one of his best weekends of the season with Berwick, amassing 28 points from two meetings against Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The Aussie, who is riding on loan with the Bandits in 2013, won his first four races at Armadale on Friday, scoring 13 points against his parent club in a 51-39 defeat. Then the following night, against the Tigers at Shielfield, he rattled up a 14 paid 15 maximum, proving he is bang in form at the moment.
Fatherhood must be agreeing with the 28 year-old, for his sudden upturn coincides with the birth of his second child after partner Rebecca recently presented him with a son (Tai).
“It’s just a coincidence,” he said. “I go out and try to win every race, but for some reason things have just been going my way recently. I haven’t been doing anything differently.”
* Berwick are facing up to the prospect of three meetings in three days.
Tonight (Thursday) the Bandits are due to race at Ipswich in the Premier League, and this will be followed by further outings against Scunthorpe on Friday and Edinburgh at home on Saturday.
“Ipswich and Scunthorpe are never easy places to go, and Edinburgh have already proved they are more than capable around Shielfield,” said team manager Ian Rae.
