Judy Murray, mother of tennis superstar Andy and erstwhile celebrity dancer, brought her own brand of tennis coaching to the Borders this week.
Several coaches from clubs throughout the region brought some of their promising youngsters to learn Judy’s style of coaching.
This was not exclusively in tennis, but included a range of hand-eye co-ordination, balance and mobility drills, through simple games and activities.
The Tennis on the Road workshops give parents, coaches, teachers and volunteers the tools needed to get kids active and to help further kick-start and develop tennis in Scotland.
And on Thursday, they visited the Borders Tennis Centre in Galashiels, before moving on to Peebles on Friday.
See next week’s Southern Reporter for the full story, and find out the local coaches’ universally accepted one thing the Borders badly needs if it is to raise an Andy Murray of its own.
