Middle distance ace Guy Learmonth has set his sights on Beijing after making the final at the European Indoor Championships in Prague.
Competing for Great Britain over 800m in his first major senior championships at the weekend, Learmonth won both his heat and semi to secured his final.
And although he could only manage sixth place with Pole Marcin Lewandowski taking gold, and silver and bronze going to Ireland and the Netherlands, Learmonth insists the experience will set him up nicely for this summer’s World Championships in Beijing.
“Unfortunately I just didn’t have as much strength as those guys today, but I’ve taken a lot from these championships and it sets me up nicely for the outdoors,” he said.
“I’m happy with how my indoor campaign’s gone. I ran an indoor PB, I’m national champion and I made the European championships final.
“The whole goal for the season is Beijing so I’ll get back into training now and we’ll build for that.”
