Tweed Triathlon Club held their second anniversary function recently at the Granary, Bridge Street, Berwick.
The event was a social gathering for club members, friends and families to celebrate the second year of the club’s formation and to look back at the previous year’s achievements.
Awards were presented to members of the club who had impressed in the various categories. The award recipients were-Male triathlete of the year, Graham Simpson for his excellent overall performances during the year which brought him top 3 places in several high level triathlon events;
Female triathlete of the year - Joyce Mark for her consistently high performances culminating in her second place in the World age group championships;
Male performance of the year went to Steve Flook for completing his first half ironman distance event in York;
Female performance of the year went to Jane Holmes for her efforts in this years Borders triathlon series.
A ‘Bloody well done’ award recognising valiant effort in the face of some form of adversity went to Anna White for her performance in the Castles half ironman distance triathlon.
A special presentation of wine went to two members who completed their first triathlons at Keswick, Sarah Robson and Jane Ord.
The club is now moving into it’s off season and training has adapted accordingly with swimming sessions at the Swan Centre on a Monday evening at 7.45pm and Friday at 6.45pm - new members are always welcome to come along and get involved.
