Berwickshire League

Chirnside have taken over at the top of the Berwickshire Bowling Association League after two wins last week.

On Tuesday they beat Berwick 6-2 and on Thuirsday followed it up with an 8-0 away win over Greenlaw.

Results from the fifth and sixth rounds of matches last week were:

Tuesday, May 27 - Berwick 3, Duns 5; Chirnside 6, Tweedmouth 2; Coldstream 4, Eyemouth 4; Gordon 8, Greenlaw 0; Ayton v Spittal - postponed.

Thursday, May 29 - Eyemouth 4, Ayton 4; Gordon 4, Coldstream 4; Greenlaw 0, Chirnside 8; Spittal 4, Duns 4; Tweedmouth 8, Berwick 0.

Games to be played tonight (Thursday, June 5) are:

Scotland trial

Jamie Mitchell from Chirnside has been selected for a trial for the Scottish International Under 25 team. This will take place on Sunday, June 8 at Craigentinny Bowling Club in Edinburgh at 2pm.

Mitchell has also played for the Borders under 25 team for a number of years and has developed into one of the region’s top junior players.

Spittal Open Triples

The annual Les Holborn open triples was held at Spittal on Bank Holiday Monday attracting entries from numerous clubs.

The winners were Norma Renton, Dilys Todrick and Dave Watson from Berwick, who defeated the Spittal triple of Brian Patterson, Billy Moore and Andy Black in the final.

Semi finalists were Neil Skelly, Philip Tait and Steven Winterbone along with David, Peter and Martin Dixon all of Spittal.
