Round three of the time trial league saw Doug Robertson take maximum points on the first warm evening race of the club time trial season.

His 23.52 may not have quite been the fastest of the night but it was more than enough to win on handicap from Andy Waring and Dom Blythe.

It was a night for the fast men to take the main points in the league as well as on overall time with Andy Waring scoring his second win of the year with an excellent 23.27, another PB, and Doug Robertson backing up his win on handicap with an excellent second, Doug Slater continued his strong start to the season with third in 23.58. Joyce Mark was first lady home in 26.01 with Wanda Field second on 27.38 and Alison Kerr third in 29.43

Further down the field there were another four excellent PBs for new members Sean Douglas, Ian Russell, Lisa Sinton and 12 year old Samuel Johnston.

Doug Robertson has opened up a significant lead in the league series on 26 points with Steve Rowley back in second on 19 and Andy Waring third on 18 Andrew Scorey was racing in Dunfermline on the same night, he continued his excellent season with a strong 9th place racing in a large field of 70 riders, many of whom are currently riding in higher license categories than Andrew.

He continued that form with a strong fifth place at Hetton le Hole on Saturday, also taking the day’s ‘most combative’ award. Surely it won’t be long till he makes enough points to become a 1st category rider - in under two full seasons on the road, that would be some achievement.

On Sunday Wanda Field took first place in the veterans category at the Druidge Bay standard distance triathlon and third placed lady overall. Joyce Mark, competing for Tweed Triathlon Club, also won her super vet sprint event and was first lady overall.

This week’s club race is a 15 miler that comes just one night after the start of the border time trial series in Galasheils, tired legs will be the name of the game for many. 6.30 meet for a 7pm on Thursday evening at Hutton crossroads.
