Up and coming racing driver Jamie Thorburn has been making a name for himself on both sides of the Borders as he gets his 2016 campaign underway.
The young Duns driver has taken part in two race meetings so far at Snetterton in Norfolk and at Knockhill.
Snetterton was the first round of the British Super Series FF1600 championship. Jamie qualified third for race one and after a great start led the race for the first few laps but was overtaken by ex FF1600 champion James Raven to finish the first race second overall.
In race two Jamie started second and again challenged for the lead, racing hard against James Raven and American driver Chase Owen, but ultimately finished third overall after a slight mistake. This was a great effort on his first trip to Snetterton.
Last Sunday was the first meeting of year for the Scottish FF1600 Championship. Jamie qualified third for the first of the two races in very wet conditions and finished in third place after a pretty straightforward race behind Jordan Gronkowski and Neil Maclennan.
Race two was held on a dry track and conditions suited Jamie much more along with team mate Maclennan and they overtook Gronkowski and battled for the lead with the more experienced Maclennan coming out on top with Jamie second.
It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Jamie earning podium spots after each race.
