A stunning drive by Garry Pearson saw him finish in 11th place overall in the Rallye Terre de l’Auxerrois, round four of the French Peugeot 208 Rally Cup,

After the opening three stages the Duns driver, with Irishman Niall Burns on the notes, was lying a superb third in the 208 Rally Cup and seventh overall. Considering there were four WRC cars, 10 Group N Subaru/Mitsubishi Evo’s and 10 Citroen DS3’s seeded in the top 24 it shows the potential of this nimble 1600cc car.

This is Garry’s first attempt at this championship and it differs from British events as the format is one slow reconnaissance drive through the stages to write your own pace notes but no drive through to check them.

On the last stage of the first day their AFC Peugeot 208 R2 suffered a puncture and they dropped back to seventh Peugeot and 15th overall. On day two the crew were determined to push even harder and Garry was rewarded with his first ever fastest stage time in the Peugeot 208 Rally Cup.

Although Garry and Niall had no starter motor for the last two stages they managed to complete them without stalling and took fifth Peugeot 208 Rally Cup and 11th overall.
