Seven hardy souls from Lauder Golf Club set out to play on Sunday in horrendous conditions.
After nine holes the consensus of opinion was to call it a day, but Grant Robson was on a good score and wanted to carry on.
Halfway up the 10th hole, the golfing Gods intervened. Grant twisted round to get a club from his bag then collapsed in agony with a dislocated knee cap.
Club captain Dougie Bain phoned 999 and an ambulance was dispatched but because the course is so soft the ambulance could not get to the patient. Farmer Billy Hunter came to the rescue with his clinically sterile 4WD pick-up transporting Grant to the car park and the waiting ambulance.
We are happy to report Grant has been discharged on crutches but will be out of action for a few weeks.
