Norham Running Club hosted the annual Yetholm Hill Race last Sunday at Halterburn.
The previous day’s gale force winds and rain were a concern for the organisers but thankfully the wind speed had decreased to a stiff breeze on the day with fine sunshine and clear visibility on the hills.
Race winner was Haddington’s Brian Marshall who covered the eight mile circuit of the Cheviots in an impressive 1 hour 14 minutes and 48 seconds.
Brian’s time was all the more commendable as he completed the course running bare foot!
Local runner Damon Rodwell, wearing traditional fell shoes, was second in 1.15.41 and Hunters Bog Trot runner Julian Warman third in 1.16.51.
The first V40 was Jim Thomson from Saltwell Harriers finishing 11th overall in 1.23.36. First V50 and 4th overall was Penicuik Harriers Stuart Anderson in 1.17.37. Ochil Hill Runners David Duncan was first V60 in 1.39.32.
In the ladies race Wooler’s Claire Bagness was first and 20th overall in an impressive 1.29.45. Gemma Bradley from Saltwell Harriers was next in 1.32.12 followed by Lisa Blackley in 1.47.07.
