Bu Bujin Karate is to begin offering martial arts classes in Eyemouth this September.

The sessions will be run by Michael Exley and a team of instructors and assistants who already oversee training in Duns and Berwick.

Michael said that the idea for a new class had been brewing for a while: ”Over the last couple of years the interest from Eyemouth about classes has increased and we think there is a demand for karate in the town.”

He added: “We hope to attract both adults and children and build a strong membership.”

The club is backed by the Scottish Karate Federation, the largest and most successful karate group in Scotland.

“A club in Eyemouth is a great addition to our group,” Michael went on, “and is probably overdue.

“Eyemouth has produced some very good karate exponents in the past.

“Hopefully this can only enhance the future success for Bu Bujin Karate and the Eyemouth community”

The club’s sessions will start at 6pm for children, and 7pm for 12 year olds to adults.

New and former members of the club are always welcome.

Session prices start at £3.

In addition to karate the club offers conflict resolution and physical intervention training as part of a self defence programme provided by the club.

They will be held at Eyemouth High School.

Meanwhile the Berwick Karate Group restarts after the summer break with sessions on September 2 and 4.

Duns opens again on August 27, while the Eyemouth classes will start on Thursday September 12.

The Bu Bujin group are also taking part in a sponsored walk on Sunday, September 15, for Cancer Research.

Any member can participate. All they need to do is contact Bu Bujin Karate either through the club’s website, via the details above, or on Facebook.
