Berwick Sailing Club’s new safety boat is put through its paces on the river at the mouth of the Tweed.
The boat was purchased through lottery funding and the picture shows the vessel out on the water when the helmsmen were on a training exercise.
With the acquisition of the boat, Berwick Sailing Club are now able to put more people on the water and make the best of the excellent local sailing opportunities.
The club are in the process of having a video clip prepared which will go onto you-tube shortly, showing club members in action - lessons and racing.
It will be accessable via a link from their web-site. It will include footage showing the long weekend recently enjoyed by the visiting canoeist from the Coquet Shorebased Trust.
Meanwhile, the club has been tgrowing steadily in recent months and with the help of funding from Sport England and the National Lottery they hope to improve the changingroom facilities as well as a new classroom and lounge.
During the summer months the club is staging the Salmon Shield race series, which is designed to attract new members who mght be interested in learning how to sail and progress into racing.
There are coaching sessions which teach the skills required to race, on club boats or members’ own boats.
The event is sponsored by the Salmon Inn at East Ord.
