Foulden based East March Judo Club travelled to Paisley on Sunday to compete at Judo Scotland’s Grand Prix event ‘The Clyde Challenge’.
First on the mats was 11-year-old Johnny Rutherford. He faced some very strong competition in the A Band Boys and after 3three long fights he managed to bring home the bronze medal.
Arianna McCulloch (12) was competing for the first time as a B Band girl. Unfortunately she lost out to a much more experienced girl and won the silver medal.
David Fotheringham (25) competed in the Cadet Boys class. In his first fight he pulled off a nice clean winning throw for Ipon. In his second fight David threw for Ipon. Unable to manage a clean throw he followed up with a very strong hold down to win the round. In the final he was beaten by an Ipon throw from the current Grand Prix champion which saw David walk away with a well earned silver medal.
