In just their second full season in the Scottish Indoor Bowling Association League Berwickshire Indoor Bowling Club have made big strides.
The club is currently well into the second half of its 2014/15 league season. The team have already beat Teviotdale and Cumbernauld at home and they have had some very close matches with three games only being separated by less than 10 shots.
On Saturday, January 10, they entertained Headwell IBC from Dunfermline and the team recorded their biggest league victory to date, beating them by 92-63 shots. Scores were: Stuart Bebbington 28 James J.Watson 20; Jamie Mitchell 18 Craig Watson 14; Graeme Forsyth 25 Kieran Delaney 14; Robert Paterson 21 Brian Russell 17.
The team is very grateful to Tustain Motors of Berwick and Shunters for their generous sponsorship.
As a result the club has been able to buy shirts for the team to wear. These shirts are not only worn just in league matches but also any time a player is representing the club, which is very much appreciated.
The club have also had two players selected to play in the Scottish Indoor Bowling International trial team this year.
Jamie Mitchell was selected to play in the Under 25 trial team, while Stuart Bebbington was selected for the national trial team.
Once again this was a tremendous achievement for a club only a couple of years old. Unfortunately both players did not make selection for the team but just to be selected for a trial is a fantastic honour.
During the first half of the season the Ideal Carpets Triples Leagues have been played in two divisions with Division One being played on Tuesdays and Division Two on Thursdays.
Division One was won by the triple of Tiger Mitchell, Jamie Mitchell and Robert Paterson while Division Two was won by Jim Cumming, Andrew Ross and Ross Neil. Thanks go to Ideal Carpets for their very kind sponsorship
The second half of the season is just going to be as busy for its members.
