Berwick athlete Guy Learmonth described his performance as “terrible” after finishing second in the Sainsbury’s British Athletics Indoor Championships.
He was promoted from third to second place after the first man across the line was disqualified in the final of the 800m in Sheffield.
Andrew Osagie was penalised for a lane infringement, gifting the precious British Championship title to local star Mukhtar Mohammed a time of 1:51.61.
Learmonth was the next man home in a time of 1:51.87, but was not happy with his performance.
“I’ve got to get it right tactically,” he said. “I’ve got to run my race. It was just terrible. It won’t happen again.”
