A look at the results from the local clubs.


Under the new format of three divisions each of six teams, playing home and away, the end of the matchplay season is already in sight, with only two rounds to play.

Last weeks results and tables:-

Div 1: Alnwick Castle 4 Alnmouth (Foxton) A 8; Bamburgh Castle 10 Goswick 2; Alnmouth (Foxton) B 8 Magdalene Fields A 4.

Bamburgh Ladies

Medal Winner: Fiona Hall 77-13=64, runner-up Lucy McGregor 84-19=65.

Challenge Cup winner: Lucy McGregor 84-18=66, runner-up Alison Brett 80-13=67.


The three Divisional Finals of the Club Championship took place over the period Thursday, July 9 – Saturday, July 11 last week.

In the C Division Final Mark Rogerson overcome Kevin Elliott. In the B Division quarter-finals David Brigham beat David Millar, Cameron Mitchell beat Steven Dunn, Adam Laidlaw beat Tim Manning and Alistair Holmes beat Keith Manuel. Semi-Finals. Adam Laidlaw beat Alistair Holmes, David Brigham beat Cameron Mitchell and in the final Cameron Mitchell beat Adam Laidlaw.

In the A Division semi-finals Eric Johnson beat Graham Moss, Steve Wilson beat Alan Potts. In the final Eric Johnson played some outstanding golf in defeating runner-up Steve Wilson. Eric is now crowned Club Champion golfer 2015 and is taking bookings/T-shirt signings, for a small fee, via the pro Shop.

During all the excitement of above Gordon Massie sneaked in to win the Saturday Simmons sweep with 37 points and Graeme (Goozle) Thompson won the Sunday round also with 37 points.

Ken Cooper is having an exhibition round this coming Friday (July 17) and the July Medal will be played on Sunday (19).


Magdalene Fields

In the sixth round of the George Martin Stableford first place went to Kevin Scott with 40 points, second was Nicholas Smiles on a better back nine after he and Neil McLachlan both came in with 39 points.

The 12-hole Safe Remedies competition was won by Martin Swanston on 28 points(BB9), second went to John McKenzie and third was Gordon Dickson with 27 points.

Saturday’s Stableford saw Neil McLachlan continue his good form when he came in with 40 points, Greg Wardhaugh took the runner-up spot on 38 points and third went to John McKenzie with 37 points.

The Ladies held their Monthly Medal on Sunday, Elaine Sharp took the honours with a 107-33 74, second was Angela Sharp 113-35-78 and third went to Evelyn Burn 99-20 79.

The final of the Officers Cup was played over 36 holes on Sunday and after a hard fought encounter it was Darren Meakin and Peter Simmons who took the cup with rounds of 72 & 67 (139), Shane Armstrong and Kevin Atkinson were the runners-up with two rounds of 70 (140) and third place went to Leonard Eyreand Martin Neil 73 & 69 (142).

Seahouses Ladies

Medal No 13 winner was Jean Bladen 96-23-73, second Nick Claydon, 85-11-74 and third Glynis Lawson, 100-25-75.

On Sunday the Breckon Trophy was played for and the winner was Glynis Lawson, 93-25-68, second Susan Hornsby, 85-14-71 and third Lorraine Bewley, 88-14-74 on countback from Nicki Claydon, 85-11-74 and Hazel Hardacre, 92-18-4. Best gross was 85 carded by Nicki Claydon on the better back six from Susan Hornsby.


Paul Routledge is once again Gents Club Champion with a 36 hole score of 160, Paul’s two rounds of 80 were enough to beat Stuart Lowrey (168) into second place and Geoff Brown (169 third).

The 18 hole Salver was won by Stevie Moy with a gross score of 87.

The third Andy Fairnington Stableford Qualifier was held on Saturday and the winner was Brian Tait with 38 points with Les Johnson second on 34.
