Former Duns swimmer Dan Wallace finished fifth in the final of the men’s 400m freestyle on day one of the Commonwealth Games.
Recording a time of 3mins 46.11secs, Wallace finished ahead of compatriots Robbie Renwick and Stephen Milne, who were seventh and eighth respectively.
Canada’s Ryan Cochrane won gold ahead of Australia’s David McKeon, with England’s James taking bronze.
In an exciting heat earlier in the day, Wallace finished second behind Milne, with Renwick third to make it a Scottish 1-2-3.
Wallace, who returned to Scotland two years ago after moving to the USA to train, is also in action in the 400m individual medley heats tomorrow morning at 11.49am.
Another former Duns Amateur Swimming Club member, Jak Scott, competes in the in the 4x200m freestyle relay on Sunday.
