Local sprinter Cameron Tindle is celebrating this week after a double call-up to the international stage.
The 17-year-old from Berwick, who is trained by Berwickshire’s Henry Gray, has been named in the Great Britain squad for the World Youth Games in Columbia and for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa.
Tindle, who won the New Year Sprint in Edinburgh, will fly out to Columbia next week for the World Youth Games, which are being held between July 15 and 19.
He will run in the 200m events and coach Gray says that if he performs well there is no reason why he shouldn’t make a final.
Gray told the Berwickshire News: Cameron is currently number one in Europe for his age.
“He has had a tremendous year so far, and for someone who has only been running for only two years, the progress he has made is almost unheard of.”
Tindle will also travel to Samoa for the Commonwealth Youth Games in September, where he will contest the 100m and 200m.
