Berwick boxer Mitchell Barton won a gold medal with Team Scotland at the Lah Nimani Tournament in Kosovo at the weekend.
Barton, who is a super heavyweight, swept aside the challenge and recorded a unanimous points decision over Hungarian Richard Kocsis.
The Chirnside ABC member, who is the current British Champion in his age group, was part of a seven man squad who travelled to the independent state for the event.
The team returned with five gold medals and two silver, which is a fantastic achievement.
In his bout he managed to land some massive punches and forced the referee to step in to give the Hungarian a standing count at the end of round two.
Meanwhile, the Grant brothers, Jack and Ben, made the two and a bit hour journey north to box on the St.Francis ABC show in Dundee.
Jack boxed Sean Coyle from 1314 ABC in Bannockburn. He was up against it from the first bell with Coyle proving to be a very strong opponent. Jack had to dig deep against the pressure applied by Coyle. He defended well but had no answer to effective combinations and workrate of Coyle and lost by unanimous points.
Ben boxed Charlie Doig from St.Francis ABC. Ben had already beaten Doig a few weeks earlier on the East Lothian ABC show in what was a great contest and this bout, over 3x3 minute rounds, proved to be no different.
Rounds one and two were close with both boxers exchanging some good clean punches, and Ben won the last. The judges decision went to Doig by a split decision which meant that Ben’s impressive unbeaten run had come to an end.
