Berwick have confirmed that skipper Ricky Ashworth is to undergo a head scan before returning to racing.
The Bandits’ captain has been out iof action for the past fortnight after suffering concussion in two separate accidents at Glasgow and Edinburgh within the space of a fortnight.
Ashworth will miss this weekend’s home and away Premier League fixtures against Workington, when his place will be taken by guest Nick Morris, who rode for the club in a similar role at the back end of last season.
Berwick face the Comets at home on Saturday. with the return at Derwent Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
Team manager Ian Rae said: “Ricky has had two separate knocks in recent weeks and is due to see a specialist when he will undergo a scan before he can contemplate making a return to the track.
“We all wish Ricky well because he is a popular member of the team and we miss his scoring potential.”
