£20,000 grant for Berwick boathouse repair

Berwick Rowing Club, is celebrating the news that it has received a £20,000 funding boost from SITA Trust to repair the floor and structure of the historic Boathouse.

The funds, totalling £20,152, will be spent strengthening the structure and replacing the flooring in the boat storage area of the clubhouse which dates back to 1869.

Hilary Cairns Treasurer of Berwick ARC and also the member responsible for the grant application commented: “I am absolutely thrilled our club has been awarded this funding.

“We are a small but thriving Rowing Club and look forward to continuing the sport of rowing in Berwick thanks to the generosity of the Sita Trust.”

Marek Gordon CEO and Chairman of SITA Trust added: “We are delighted to have been able to support this project through the Landfill Communities Fund. This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.2 billion.”

SITA Trust provides funding through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Funding is available for projects that enhance communities and enrich nature.
