Ayton win Berwickshire Bowls League
Ayton are the winners of the 2014 Berwickshire Bowling Association League.
They lifted the title last Thursday on the penultimate night of the season, their big 9-1 home victory over Chirmside, coupled with Gordon’s defeat at Spittal, putting them in an unassauilable position.

West End residents’
The annual match for the West End Residents Trophy was played on Sunday between the three local clubs of Tweedmouth, Berwick and Spittal.
This was one of the closest matches in a while with the lead changing hands after every round played.
Berwick that finally prevailed with their top triple of Dave Watson, Walt Cochrane and Neil Walton and even though the Tweedmouth triple of Bobby Dryden, Donald Wilkinson and Mal Holloway also remained unbeaten on the day it wasn’t enough to stop Berwick.
Spittal were second on the day with Tweedmouth coming third despite having the lead after the first round.
The glass trophy and silver salver were presented to Berwick president Neil Walton (Olé) by the Salmon Queen Lauren Dixon.

Around 120 of Scotland’s bowling clubs are capitalising on the heightened interest in the sport created by the Glasgow Commonwealth Games by taking part in the Try Bowls campaign starting this month.
Organised by Bowls Scotland to get more people playing Scotland’s most successful Commonwealth Games sport, by offering participants of all ages the opportunity to play at a local club, Try Bowls was officially launched last Sunday.
