Subasic fires Fishermen into cup semi-final

Ormiston 1

Eyemouth United 2

Eyemouth travelled to Recreation Park for this Alex Jack Cup quarter-final knowing things had to improve if they were to progress against a free-scoring Ormiston side.

It was end to end stuff from the start with Ormiston wee finding the Eyemouth back four in no mood to give things away cheaply.

The better of the first half chances fell to Eyemouth, and a bit more composure from Patrick Tillbrook could have seen the Fishermen take the lead when he was put through on the keeper but his poor shot was easily saved. Eyemouth had further chances to go in front. A Dean Walker header was cleared off the line then Sean Campbell wasted another opportunity and, as so often happens, Eyemouth were made to pay as Ormiston broke away and scored just before the interval.

Eyemouth weathered some early pressure from Ormiston in the second half this and settled back into playing flowing football.

With ten minutes remaining Sean Campbell played a lovely through ball to substitute Jason Anderson in the Ormiston box. He controlled well and found Dean Walker who made no mistake in grabbing the equaliser.

Both teams went all out for the winner and after the referee was called on to calm the players down it was Eyemouth who eventually got it right at the end. Sean Campbell was once again the provider of a great pass to feed in on-loan striker Ano Subasic who ran at the Ormiston defence and slammed in the winner to take Eyemouth into the semi-final
