Reserves lose out to Craigroyston

Berwick Reserves scored after only two minutes and again three minutes from time, but inbetween Craigroyston rattled in three goals, Berwick ultimately paying the price for profligacy in front of goal.

Kenny O’Brien gave Berwick the lead, squeezing a low shot inside Stuart Burnside’s near post.

Callum Wyllie squandered two chances, on one occasion shooting at Birnside’s leg, but Craigroyston equalised after 22 minutes, Craig Dixon’s sheer persistence paying off inside a crowded goalmouth for Paul Lynch to level.

In the 36th minute Berwick keeper Grant Sandison punched away Mark Hendrie’s free kick, but only as far as Dixon, who swept it into the net. Burnside punched away another O’Brien effort and he also did well to turn a dean Hoskins free kick over the bar.

The visitors sealed the victory with their third from Hendrie, but after O’Brien was tripped, Morris netted from the penalty spot to make for a frantic final few minutes.

Berwick Reserves: Sandison, Finlayson (Saunderson 72), Brady, Hoskins, Fairbairn, Gill, O’Brien, Doris (Lough 60), Carse, Morris, Wylllie (Smith 60).
