Rangers add to squad with double signing
Berwick Rangers have kicked off their preparations for the new season – whenever it may be – by making their first two new summer signings.
The Lowland League side have snapped up midfielder Kieran Somerville and defender Craig Reid, both players well known to Gers boss Ian Little, for the 2020-21 campaign.
The pair were at Livingston when Little was in charge of the West Lothian club’s under-20s from June 2016 to September 2017, while he also linked up with Somerville during his stint in charge of Whitehill Welfare.
After leaving Livingston, Somerville (22) joined Arniston Rangers before moving on to Whitehill Welfare, where he played almost 60 games.
Reid (21) began his career at Hibernian before moving to the youth set-up at Livingston for two years.
Since then, he has had spells at Penicuik Athletic, Whitehill Welfare, Tranent Juniors and Newtongrange Star.
Little said he was delighted with his new signings and that both would be valuable additions to his squad.
He told the club website: “I worked with them both when they were full-time at Livingston and, although they have ventured down a different road, where they’re now both working full-time and playing part-time, both have plenty of first-team experience that can help us.
“Kieran is a powerful player who can defend but also drive forward with the ball, while his versatility means he can play across the midfield as well as up front.
“Craig, meanwhile, can play either centre-back or right-back and is a quick, ball-playing defender who reads the game well.”
