Stirling University 3
Stirling University ran out comfortable winners of this league encounter at New Hawthorn Park on Saturday with Duns never really threatening to take anything from the game.
It was a poor performance by the Dingers who admittedly were missing several key players, but nevertheless those available need to step up to the mark when asked to perform and start producing the goods.
The home side got off to the worst possible start when they conceded a goal after just two minutes. Some sloppy defensive play allowed Stirling in for a well taken goal.
The young Students were always in control in the first half and should have added to their score but poor finsihing let them down.
Duns did have their chances with top scorer Jordan Lauder going close on a couple of occasions.
Duns looked much more up for the game at the start of the second half and showed their intent when full-back Lee Walker rifled an effort from all of 25 yards just inches over the bar.
However, the Duns defence were caught napping again and Stirling doubled their tally, A through ball was popped over the back four leaving the Stirling winger the easiest of tasks to drill the ball past keeper Robertson.
Robertson pulled off a couple of fine saves to deny Stirling before they eventually added a third goal.
In midweek Duns had put up a much better showing against reigning league champions Lothian Thistle HV. They lost the match 5-4 but only to a goal deep into stoppage time. Duns goalscorers were George Windram, Keiran Lee, Sean Robertson and Luke Strangeways.
