On a day dominated by Cup competitions, victories for Bamburgh Castle, Lowick United and Wooler Reserves saw them all through to the semi finals of the Bilclough Cup,.
Meanwhile, victories for Tweedmouth Harrow, Wansbeck and North Sunderland saw them all through to the next round of the Laidler Lancaster Cup.
In the Bilclough Cup league division one leaders Alnmouth were defeated at home 2-1 by a resurgent Bamburgh Castle, whose goals came from Darren Egdell and Jonny Johnston with Peter Murray scoring Alnmouth’s consolation.
Craster Rovers were hosting Lowick United and it was the visitors who progressed with the only goal of the game coming from Marco Lambert.
The shock result of the day saw Wooler Reserves beat Springhill 3-2 with goals from Jack Strangeways and a Kyle Jeffrey double. Springhill’s goals were both scored by Richard Green.
In the Laidler Lancaster Cup, Wansbeck beat Highfields United 6-0 with goals from Roberts, Atkin, Hall and a Freathy hat trick.
North Sunderland were home to Rothbury and were 3-1 winners with goals coming from Anthony Brannigan, Neil MacFarlane and Chris Gardner with Steven Shendon netting Rothbury’s goal.
The final game in the Laidler Lancaster Cup saw lowly Eglingham beaten 11-1 by Tweedmouth Harrow, whose goals came from Terry James with four, Jordan Richardson with three and single strikes from Jonny Gill, Mark douglas, Aaron Patterson and Jonny Blythe.
The only league game of the day saw Lynemouth Anglers return home from Embleton with three points after a narrow 4-3 victory.
This was a game in which two players from opposing sides scored hat-tricks,.
Lynmouth’s goals came from a Scott Neill treble and one from Ross Moffat while all Embleton’s goals came courtesy of a Mickey Hall.
