Winter weather hits sporting fixtures

THE wintry weather has decimated the sporting fixture list this weekend. In rugby, Berwick’s game against Linithgow at Scremerston was off and football fixtures were hard hit too.

Berwick Rangers’ Third Division trip to Stirling was declared on following a 10am pitch inspection at Forthbank.

But nine games were off in the East of Scotland League, with Coldstream’s game against Leith the only First Division fixture to survive.

Berwick Rangers Reserves v Easthouses Lily, Kelso United v Eyemouth United and Duns v Peebles Rovers were all postponed.

There were 12 games off in the Border Amateur League. Only five survived, including 2-2 draws between Selkirk Victoria and Eyemouth Amateurs in the B Division and Gordon v Chirnside United Colts in the C Division.

In the North Northumberland League, Tweedmouth Rangers v Amble St Cuthberts was called off.

In rugby, Berwick’s East League Division 1 game against Linlithgow at Scremerston was postponed, but the Duns game went ahead. They lost 32-5 away to North Berwick.

The Berwick 2nd XV match away to Gateshead survived. They won 36-26.

The Colts game was also on. They drew 24-24 at home to Jed-Forest.
