CHIRNSIDE UNITED 1, GREENLAW 2
Two penalties from Greenlaw captain Sean Spoor were enough to see the visitors win this Border Amateur League A Division Berwickshire derby.
Chirnside took the lead five minutes in when Kelly headed home Strachan’s pin point cross but Greenlaw who were given a lifeline when Morrison was adjudged to have brought down Smillie in the box. Up stepped Spoor and he made no mistake from the spot.
Chirnside thought they should have been given a penalty of their own but the referee waved away the claims after Logie went down.
In the second half Chirnside found the Greenlaw keeper in inspired form. He denied both Kelly and Logie with great stops. Greenlaw though always looked dangerous at the other end and they were awarded another penalty when Purves mis-timed a challenge in the box. Up stepped Spoor and he sent the penalty the same way as his first giving Todd no chance.
