Two Sean Simpson goals and another by Jonny Simpson earned Coldstream a morale-boosting league win at Meadowbank 3G.

With one win in five matches prior to kick off, manager Andrew Gibson demanded that his side step up their game and the response from the players was positive.

The home side took the lead in the tenth minute when a free kick from Kenny Hall on the right looked to be going nowhere. The ball struck Chris Wright on the back which wrong-footed Mark Walters in the Coldstream goal to make it 1-0.

Coldstream upped their game and midway through the half, Adam Turner broke down the left and his ball to the back post was tapped home from six yards by Sean Simpson.

The same two players then combined again just before half-time, with Simpson tapping home from eight yards.

In the second half the game became stretched with chances at both ends.

The game was put out of reach of Leith in the 76th minute when Johnny Simpson collected the ball 25 yards out. He drove beyond three Leith defenders before rounding goalkeeper Gordon and tapping the ball home.

Leith had chances to get back into the game but they failed to take them and Coldstream held out for a deserved and much-needed morale-boosting victory.
