Local footballer Michelle Stewart is on her way to Hearts after agreeing a deal to sign for the Edinburgh club.
The 22 year-old striker lives in Duns, but plays for Lowick Ladies, and is due to play her last game for them this weekend.
She had intended to play her last match on Sunday, and is pictured receiving a bottle of champagne from her team-mates, but injuries mean she is going to have to pull on her boots for one more fixture.
“I have had six good years at Lowick,” she said, “but I couldn’t turn Hearts down because me and my family are all Jambo fans. I might have to think about giving up my hockey as well (she is a regular goalscorer for Berwick Ladies) but I will try to hang on to that for as long as I can.”
Stewart was spotted by the Hearts management when they played Lowick in a friendly match earlier this season and she has recently attended a number of training sessions.
