This was Lowick’s first game of the season against the newly promoted Boldon Ladies team.
Lowick started brightly, with new captain Jenny Patterson going close with a fierce shot, which was brilliantly saved by the visiting ‘keeper. It was the ever dangerous Michelle Stewart who broke the deadlock, after some good play down the right wing from Jodie Robinson.
Boldon then equalised with some sloppy defending from a corner. Lowick started to play some good football, which resulted in Stewart’s second of the day. But straight from the kick-off Boldon equalised again, following an awkward bounce which out-foxed Lowick’s defence,
The second half was end to end, with Lowick failing to take their chances, Boldon, however, found themselves 4-2 up after two quick goals. This seemed to spur Lowick on and an Amy Hately shot hit the bar whilst they had the ball cleared off the line, with two penalty shouts denied,
Stewartcompleted her hat-trick which set up a tense finish, but they couldn’t force the equaliser.
Lowick’s next game is at home this coming Sunday against a strong Blyth Town team in the Women’s FA Cup.
