A strong wind made playing conditions difficult and it was the visitors who started the brighter of the two sides.

Lowick forced a corner against the run of play, Mel Darling swung a ball to the back post where Jodine Bolton popped up to score 1-0.

But chances were few and far between in the remainder of the first half and at half-time the sides were still only separated by a single goal.

From the re-start Middlesbrough put the pressure on Lowick and were rewarded with a goal from a corner, with some slack marking to make it 1-1.

This seemed to spur Lowick on and a break from top scorer Michelle Stewart saw Lowick go 2-1 up.

Stewart was starting to trouble the ‘boro defence and another run led to her being brought down in the box for a penalty.

Up stepped Jodie Robinson, who saw her shot initially saved, but she scored from the rebound to make it 3-1.

This was a hard fought win for Lowick who moved up to third in the league, only three points behind leaders Boldon but with a game in hand.

Best for Lowick was Jodine Bolton, and player of the match was Michelle Stewart. Lowick are away to Easingwold on Sunday.
