Lowick had this fixture reversed as Blyth’s pitch was unplayable!

It was Lowick’s turn to have the numerical advantage as Blyth turned up with only nine players, but this didn’t stop them taking the lead after a dire first half from the home side,

Blyth applied the pressure straight from kick off and with the wind behind them they took full advantage with Lowick’s Powell the busier of the two keepers. Lowick only registered one effort on goal in the first half and it was 0-1 at the break.

Stern words were exchanged at the break and Lowick came out with the bit between their teeth.

It was a mistake from the Blyth keeper which saw a tame shot from Jenny Patterson squirm under her to draw the game level at 1-1.

Lowick started to pass the ball about and forced a corner, Mel Darling swung the ball in which was only half cleared, it fell to defender Georgia Thompson who hit the ball on the volley to find the top left hand corner to make kit 2-1.

Blyth started to tire and Michelle Stewart who had had a quiet game up till now, ran onto a through ball from Jenna Waddell to round the keeper to make it 3-1.

Lowick made hard work of a determined Blyth team, but are the first side to beat Blyth in the league for two seasons. This moves Lowick to one point behind Blyth with a game in hand, six behind leaders Boldon, with two games in hand going into the Christmas break.
