Eyemouth made the journey up to Riccarton to face the students in this EOS division one fixture and from minute one the referee, who was being assessed, set out his stall by booking Eyemouth keeper Mutch, who was adjudged to have handled outside the box.
It would be fair to say the fishermen controlled the early part of the game, but the students took the lead on 29 minutes when a corner was cleared and the resultant ball back in was deflected into the bottom corner from Forbes.
Eyemouth continued to press but were reduced to trying from long range.
Just before half time the students increased their lead when a through ball was gathered by Laurenson who rounded the out-rushing Mutch and slotted into the empty net to take them in 2-0 at the break.
Eyemouth pressed after the break and a good run down the right from Lauder and a quality ball into the box was met by Adamson who brought a top class save from the keeper.
But it was the students who increased their lead when Donnelly latched onto a ball from the right for a good finish to make it 3-0.
Eyemouth did have the ball in the net when Tillbrook fed Wilson who finished well but the referee gave offside.
The homse added a fourth through McConn and the fifth goal came from Stevenson, who shot from a tight angle into the net
