EYEMOUTH United leapfrogged their opponents into third place in the East of Scotland First Division thanks to Steven Shennan’s double and a Mark Bolton strike.

Eyemouth goalkeeper made a good save before, at the other end, Shennan found to net only to have his effort ruled out for offside.

But Eyemouth didn’t have tool long to wait before deservedly taking the lead. A mistake by Gala’s Darren Bowie was punished when Mark Bolton found the net with a superb finish.

Shennan added a second in the 40th minute, but Eyemouth’s two-goal cushion was reduced when Jonathon Brown scored an own goal on the stroke of half time.

The prolific Shennan wrapped up the points by converting a penalty eight minutes from time.

Gala were reduced to ten men for the last few minutes when Marc Berry was sent off for foul and abusive language.

Eyemouth United: Mutch, Jess, Walker, Spiers, Windram, Brown, Phillips, Wilson, Shennan, Bolton, Adamson.
