Kelso made the journey to Warner Park this week looking to put last week’s 8-0 defeat behind them.
But it was Eyemouth who started strongest and in the first few minutes midfeder Tom Wyman hit the post and also brought a fantastic save from Kelso keeper Stewart.
Then it was Aidan Lauder’s turn to test the on-loan Stewart and he made no mistake on 12 minutes rattling the ball into the top of the net to put the fishermen ahead.
Eyemouth continued to dominate play and Lauder once again broke into the Kelso box only to be brought down by the keeper.
Lauder stepped up with the resultant penalty to double Eyemouth’s lead.
Further chances were created and wasted by Eyemouth who really should have been out of sight come half time but Kelso got the next goal breaking down the left and finding a man unmarked in the box who did not waste the chance making it 2-1 right on the half time whistle.
Both teams returned to the pitch in the second half and play was pretty even.
Kelso almost got the equaliser when Damien McNulty hit a speculative shot from distance almost catching Mutch off his line, who scrambled back to tip over the bar.
Play became really scrappy from both teams but it was Kelso who finished the strongest forcing two top class saves from Eyemouth’s Mutch right at the death
Eyemouth: Mutch, Speirs, Walker (Milligan), Wylie, Williamson (Thompson), Wilson, Wyman, Jess, Adamson, Lauder, Burrell (Buckley).
